We have all been hearing a lot about barre classes lately. What are these classes about? Contrary to popular belief they are not ballet barre classes! Trust me! True, some elements of the class borrow from classical ballet, such as maintaining proper posture and executing various body positions, movements and stretches similar to those taught in classical ballet…because the results of practicing them are fantastic!
The barre classes of today are designed to be a total body workout. The feet, ankles, calves, quads, hamstrings glutes are worked thoroughly. The classes include core work similar to, but not limited to, Pilates. Arm and upper body strength training as well are a part of each class.
Stretching is of major importance and any good barre class includes plenty of it for a fluid, lean and beautiful line.
The barre class provides an intense, efficient workout that yields results quickly. It is the safest exercise that can be found. In the barre class you will strengthen muscles and boost your metabolism which will add energy to your day and a song to your heart.
