Ballet - ages 7+, also Teen and Adult - Ballet is the classical form of dance and is foundational to all dance forms. All levels from beginner through advanced are offered. The class includes barre and center work. Benefits include improved overall fitness, strength, agility, stamina and flexibility.
Pointe – ages 12+ with proper preparative training – all levels, for the more advanced student of ballet.
Pre-Ballet – ages 4-6 – For the young child, this course is an introduction to some of the more simple ballet steps, positions and movements. These are introduced in a manner that is fun, yet educational. Flexibility, control, coordination and strength will be some of the many benefits that the child will gain from this course.
Creative Movement - ages 4+, also Teen and Adult - This class introduces basic steps, movements, rhythms and expressive movement. Beginning with floor exercises and stretches, it includes exploration of creative movement and includes such concepts as making circles and lines while moving through space. Dancing with props is a popular segment of the class. The class is a great help in motor skill development, especially in the areas of balance and coordination. Always honoring to the Lord, our ultimate goal is to praise Him through movement.
Modern Dance – ages 12+ – Based on techniques developed by Martha Graham and Lester Horton, Modern Dance is a technique that is a “sister” to ballet but allows for much freer movement and expression. Improvisation is a part of the class.
Praise Dance – ages 4+, also Teen and Adult - Using foundations from ballet, lyrical and modern dance technique, this class helps the student in reclaiming the art of dance for the Kingdom of God. Warm ups and stretches start the class and it progresses through combinations in center adding new steps to expand the student’s vocabulary of movement.
Ballet Tone and Shape -12+ - A full body workout blending ballet movements with high repetition strength training exercises using light weights. The hour long class starts with warm ups, includes ab and cardio work and finishes with stretches and cool down. It will make you strong and supple.
Dance Fitness – 12+ - Dance your way to the body you want!! This one hour class starts with warm ups and stretches and progresses through several songs with choreographed dance routines and finishes with a refreshing cool down. Designed to be a total body workout, it is guaranteed to be FUN as well!
Choreography – ages 4+, also Teen and Adult – Choreography is created for a specific class or event and taught in this class. A student recital at the end of the course allows the student to minister the piece(s) learned. Choreography is also available for specific events.
Presentation – ages 12+ - How we present ourselves is a major part of how our dance ministry is perceived and understood. This class covers how to present yourself in front of an audience/congregation and includes help with often overlooked techniques of things like getting up and down gracefully and making beautiful, meaningful transitions between movements.
Garments and Makeup – ages 12+ - How do we dress for dance ministry? What is the role of make-up? How do we pull together the proper look for a dance ministry piece? These are some of the topics covered in this most informative course.
Scriptural Foundations of Dance – ages 12+ - It is important that we are knowledgeable about what we are doing. We need to be armed with scriptural answers for those who may not understand out ministry. After all, we are still pioneers and educating the body of Christ about our dance ministry is part of our job description!
Health and Nutrition for Dancers - ages 12+ – Just because we are dancers does not mean that we are totally fit! It is important that we know the basics of how to figure our caloric needs, how to compute our target heart rate for exercising, what exercises are for what muscles, etc. This is a fill-in –the –blanks course that will round out your knowledge of basic health and nutrition facts.
Christian Dance for Healing – Adult - Dance is healing! Dance out your frustrations and confront your issues through movement. The result will be a clearer mind and more cooperative body as well as a refreshed spirit that comes from being in the anointing.
